The Divine Son - Little Lamb Slain

This month's topics are on the second member of the Trinity, Jesus Christ. The book of Revelation uses symbols to present truth: it calls the symbols signs that signify a truth of what Christ has done for us. Probably the most powerful symbol is the slain Little Lamb. Revelation 5 spoke of it.

And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth (Rev 5:6).

The Greek text pictures the Lamb standing, as if he had just been slain, in the center of God the Father's throne. Not only is the Lamb present, but he is presented at the very moment of his death. This tells us what is at the center of God the Father's heart and what is the central truth of heaven: that God the Son has died for humanity. Our sins are not at the center of God's throne, but God's Son is. That tells us what should be the central preoccupation of our hearts, the slain Little Lamb of God.
