In Galatians Paul used the illustration of himself as a woman about to give birth. He said he wanted to give birth to Christ-like individuals and that happened in the Galatian church. Yet because of the intrusion of the false teachers what he had done before he now had to do again.
19 My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you—
20 but I could wish to be present with you now and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you—(Gal 4:19-20).
Paul's goal of Christian discipleship was to form a Christian into the likeness of Christ from the inside out. That is what the word form meant. To be changed from the inside out. Discipleship is not the impartation of information, but the introduction of a new life into the heart, the life of Christ through the Holy Spirit. All true discipleship pursues that goal. Are you pursuing that goal? It is the change within the heart that matters not the change within the head.
