Our heavenly existence cannot be handled by our earthly body, so a useful change will have to take place. We will have to be made ready for Heaven. So we will have to bear the image of the heavenly body of Christ. Jesus became one of us, so that we might become ones like him. That is what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15.
As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly (1 Corinthians 15:48-49).
Our heavenly existence in a spiritual body is as certain as our earthly body is solid. What guarantees that is the resurrection of Christ. He was raised gloriously never having to face death again and he was transformed, so that his humanity might exist in heaven and we will be with him there.
