At the Door

00:00

The Bible teaches the doctrine of imminency in a number of places. Imminency is a Christian belief that Christ can return at any time. Nothing has to be fulfilled before he comes for his church. This was something that was taught by Paul the apostle, John the apostle, and James. James encouraged Christians with that teaching.

You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door (James 5:8-9).

He said that we should be careful about complaining about other Christians because the judge stands at the door. In Greek the last phrase says that the next immediate thing is the judge coming through the door. It is so immediate that before we finish the comment or complaint, Jesus may take us home to heaven and we will finish the complaint in heaven. That is how aware we have to be of the soon return of Jesus Christ. It is the next immediate thing. So we have to be careful, but what will help us to be careful is the knowledge that our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ will be coming through the door!
