All in Body

00:00

What body part are you? Elbow, foot, hand or nose? Our identity in Christ brings us participation in the Body of Christ—those millions of believers of which Christ is the Head.

As a member of that body, and because of our identity in Christ, we also have a role to play in the body and in the world. This should not go to our heads, but should give us a “heads up” that we have something to do.

Paul spoke of this in Romans 12:3-5:

For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

We have a job to do and just the right amount of faith to do it. Our privilege is to share Christ’s life and gifts with those within our churches and in the world. Christ has offered himself for us, and he has given us something to offer—a spiritual gift in the body of Christ.
