This blog is always going to be the real deal ladies. Some days I’m going to be funny – you just wait. Sometimes we talk about scooping some poop. Really, I have purple gloves to show for it.
Today, however, I just can’t get this blog post off my heart. Because I need it too. As moms, we share these traits:
WE TRY OUR VERY BEST
WE WEAR 100 HATS
WE OFTEN STAY TOO BUSY
WE SAY ‘YES’ WHEN WE SOMETIMES WANTED TO SAY ‘NO’
WE WANT OUR KIDS TO HAVE IT ALL
WE WANT TO STAY IN THE LOOP
WE DON’T WANT TO MISS THE FUN
WE WANT TO BE WHAT GOD CALLED US TO BE
WE WANT TO FEEL AND LOOK PRETTY DARN CUTE
WE LIKE OUR HOMES PRETTY SNAZZY
WE LIKE TO FEEL NOTICED AND THAT WE MATTER
WE WANT TO RAISE THE MOST GOD-LOVING KIDS and more!
I’m not going to say which of those things are good or bad – they are just a theme I’ve noticed. What happens in this crazy culture is that we get beat up. We jump onto sites like this or others and we see glimpses of everyone’s greatness and think “I’m not doing enough. I need to be more like x or do more x or less like x.” And I’m saying "WHATEVER!" Those are lies from the enemy and simply not true.
I hear the same voices and we can’t be all things to all people and be great and perfect at all of the things we are inputting into our brains on Pinterest and blogs and Facebook (which are all sites I adore and use – we just have to watch how it affects us). We can love God first, love our husbands and our kids – and do our very best with what He’s given us to do. He might stretch us and call us beyond our comfort zones. He might call us to use our gifts or talents in a brand new area or give/serve in a new and exciting way – but He never intended us to be the moms of every trade.
Just, please oh please, on this day, give yourself grace. You are doing a mighty job as a mom. It’s a calling and it deserves praise and honor. It’s tough and exhausting and an honor and privilege.
I have been BEAT DOWN lately and very recently, at the things that are suffering in my home because of this launch – and they are being resolved but a song brings it all back. I am more than enough (no more guilt) and HE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!!!
