When Solitude Can’t Be Found

Solitude involves both being alone and quieting ourselves to the world around us so that we can commune with God. Some seasons of life offer abundant opportunities for practicing solitude; other seasons are filled with people, activity, and noise. Regardless of the season we find ourselves in right now, we can choose to practice solitude. Especially when pressure mounts, take time to pause, become aware of God's presence, and listen for the quiet whisper of the Spirit.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”—Psalm 46:10

Prayer: God, I come to You in Jesus' name, quieting my soul, and meditating on Your character and Your presence. I will remember You in the morning, in the evening, and throughout the day, when I am alone and lonely, and when I am surrounded by people. You are my God, and I am Yours. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
