“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” -- Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
Have you ever wondered whether your circumstances have a purpose? Let me encourage you, they do. God allows nothing in your life to go unused. He knows right where you are, identifies with what you are going through, and offers you just what you need to get through a difficult time. When we remain steadfast and obedient to His will, we won’t miss what He is trying to teach us in the tough and trying times.
Recently, God reminded me of an experience where I was overwhelmed with loneliness for two days. Honestly, I couldn't understand the intensity of it. I shared it with my husband and a few close friends, but I still had no idea why I couldn't shake the feeling. After all, I've faced trials and losses in my life and have always been able to maintain my internal strength by focusing my eyes on Jesus.
It was on the second day of this experience that God revealed His purpose for allowing me to feel so lonely. First, He reminded me that experiential knowledge is true knowledge. Next, He revealed that my emotions were directly related to two things: 1) His desire to strengthen my dependence on Him and 2) to prepare me to better relate to others who are experiencing the intense pain of loneliness.
When we give God thanks for our trying times- while difficult and often confusing, He is preparing and strengthening us for our good and His glory.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” -- Romans 8:28 (NASB)
Remember, Our Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow (Hebrews 13:8). Today, you and I serve the same God who reminded the Israelites,
"Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." -- Isaiah 41:10 (NASB)
Will you embrace God's promises today and be strengthened?
