The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ... But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. (1 Corinthians 12:12,18, NIV).
God made man a social being. We are out of our realm when we live as lone rangers. This is especially true when it comes to our Christian lives. God did not intend for us to live isolated from others. We need each other to be complete.
It may seem much easier to try to serve God alone. We all have had those moments when we thought life would be great if it wasn’t for everybody else. But that is where the challenge is: working with others who are so different from us. It would be easier to find people who are just like us to work with but that would present a greater challenge.
God created us special and different for a purpose. Each of us has a specific responsibility in the Kingdom. God designed us so we can carry out that specific responsibility. This means God has created us differently so each responsibility can be carried out.
As we bring our differences together we, working together, work together for the greater good. The human body is one but made up of individual parts. It is God who brings the right parts together for each body of believers. The only thing that brings us together is our relationship with Jesus Christ, but that is powerful enough to bridge any gap of differences.
The church should function like a well-oiled machine. The Holy Spirit is the oil that makes it work.
