Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the work you have received from the Lord.” (Colossians 4:17)
Who was Archippus? What work was he given?
What farmer plows his field only to forget to sow seeds?
What cook makes an awesome meal only to throw it away?
What carpenter works hours on a bookshelf only to paint half of it?
A job half done is worthless.
Incomplete work haunts, nags and frustrates everyone, not only the worker. It would have been better to never start.
What have you left undone?
Let us, with the farmer, plant and harvest the seeds we’ve been given.
Let us, with the cook, spread out and prepare a delicious meal.
Let us, with the carpenter, build, nail and paint a bookshelf for every good book.
We are Archippus.
The work in our hand and the desires of our heart are from the Lord. Let us complete the work we’ve received so when we lie down on the pillow of death we will rise up to “well done My good and faithful servant.”
See to it, dear Reader, that you complete the work you have received from the Lord.
