The Path Ahead

Psalm 139:16 says all our days were ordained before we ever lived them. That doesn’t mean we’re robots, of course; God is not a puppeteer. But it does mean he has clear intentions for each one of us. According to his word, there’s nothing accidental about our existence.

That’s good news for those who are regretful about their past and anxious for their future. Many people are convinced their lives are meaningless. Some believe they have missed out on God’s plan and that it’s too late to get back in on it. Others are so busy focusing on the day-to-day demands that all they can think about is surviving. Centuries of pure naturalism and existentialism have convinced huge portions of society that life is pointless. God clearly disagrees with all of the above.

Don’t fall victim to discouragement. Remember the God who has known you since before you were born. Trust in the meaning of your existence. Your search for significance is not on your shoulders; it’s on his. He has said there’s a point to it all, whether you see it at the moment or not. He began a good work in your life, and he doesn’t abandon projects halfway through (Philippians 1:6). In one way or another—probably more ways than you will ever see—he will make your life count.
