As a mother of five young children, I have a fertile mission field before me. Every morning, I am presented with unique opportunities to share the good news and to point their hearts toward Jesus. We have begun this year of homeschooling reading through Genesis, and my older children have asked these age-old questions: Why did an all-knowing God allow Eve to eat the fruit? Why did He allow Satan to fool her? Indeed, our omniscient God could have allowed events to unfold differently, but He did not.
I remind them that without the Fall, we would not know the most beautiful story ever told, that of the King of the universe sending us His only Son to rescue us from our sin and restore us to a perfect relationship with Himself. Though we deserved only punishment and death, "Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live" (Gal. 1:4).
Whether we are brand-new Christians or have followed Christ for many years, we need to share the story of redemption—with our children, our neighbors, our coworkers, and even with ourselves again and again, so it does not become like stale, tasteless cracker crumbs on our lips.
Marvel at the reality that you and I have been saved from our sin and have become a part of God's plan that is continually unfolding. As [The Story] video says, "God is writing an amazing story from creation to restoration. He created you to be part of that story to worship Him, serve Him, and enjoy relationship with Him."
