When I reflect on Easter I am reminded of the power of the resurrection in so many areas of my life, especially discouragement.
Discouragement is like a cold, blustery wind that freezes everything it touches. It dampens enthusiasm, erases smiles, and leaves loved ones bent over like a flower with no sun.
Discouragement enters our lives at many levels and in different ways. One critical comment can bring discouragement for months. A broken dream can drain hope from our hearts. Uncontrollable circumstances can beat us down until we’re ready to quit. Continued struggle with certain sin patterns can leave us totally frustrated.
When I am discouraged most, and frustration starts to take over, I stop and remember that Jesus’ resurrection revealed power in an unlikely place – a graveyard. Christ brings victory, strength, and peace into the dead and withered places of our lives. But this can only happen through my faith in the power of Jesus’ resurrection in my life.
What is your personal graveyard? Is it your relationships? Your job? Your choices? Does your life seem like an unlikely place for a miracle? You don’t have to despair! If you believe and walk in faith, Christ will walk beside you. He wants you to experience his love and grace. He wants to rescue you from your graveyard and bring victory to your life through him.
So what’s holding you back from letting go and believing in the power of the resurrection of Jesus today?
