I have a couple of friends who are getting married soon, and they love to talk about their soon-to-be-husbands. In fact, one of the girls just started volunteering info about her fiancé while she was unwrapping gifts at her bridal shower, even though we didn’t ask for it!
For a long time now, I’ve wanted to sit down and write out things that are true of my Lover. Not just so I can brag on Him to others, but so when I’m feeling unloved and unpursued by other men, I can remind myself that I have the love of Someone who’s infinitely better!
I thought I’d begin today with His words:
“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him” (Proverbs 30:5).
Have you ever known anyone whose every word was perfectly flawless?! This is the One who loves you.
And then there’s His voice. If you think you’ve heard a deep, manly voice before, think again:
“. . . The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars . . . and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, ‘Glory!’ (Psalm 29:4-5, 9)"
Wow. If the forest reacts to His voice that way, how would you react to hearing it?
Your turn! What’s true about this Lover of yours—His eyes, His hands, His feet . . . who is your God? Tell me about Him!
