Because God is THAT good and sin is THAT bad -- there are no little, minor sins -- it took extreme measures to bring about our redemption. Hebrews 9:22 insists there is no sacrifice for sins without the shedding of blood, and Jesus confirmed that in the Garden of Gethsemane, when He asked the Father if His mission to redeem us could be achieved any other way. There was none.
