Prophetic vision is seeing things the way God sees them. It is discerning the purpose of heaven in your time, as well as perceiving the destination God has set before you—even when it is not yet manifest to the natural eye, and even when it seems as if you will never reach it.
Our focus is to be set on the purpose of God, not on the resistance we face along the way. We must have the right vision before us if we are to finish at the right destination. It would be a terrible thing to run a race only to cross the wrong finish line. It would be a disaster to aim at the wrong target and hit it. The Pharisees were zealous and diligent, but their purpose was self-seeking. They did not have prophetic vision; therefore, they missed the mark.
So, do you know God’s purpose for you? Romans 8:28–29 reveals it: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. (NLT, emphasis added)
Before time began, God planned for us to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Everything we do is to be toward this end! So keep this vision before you. Ask the Holy Spirit to shape your perspective to reflect His purpose. Reminding yourself of the goal will help you continue on the right path even when the road gets rough.
Remember, God knows our ending before we even see the beginning. He can work every moment of our lives for our good, according to His purpose for us. Continue to press into the presence of God. Know Him, love Him, and follow His lead. Let Him guide you step by step to the destination He has in mind for you. As you behold Him, you will fulfill His plan—you’ll be shaped more and more into His image!
So all of us can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)
