In a world with so many choices, we run the risk of being mediocre.
We settle for good things instead of “great things” because good opportunities are abundant.
In order for me (and for you) to fulfill our divine destinies, we must discipline ourselves to say “No” to many good things so we can say “Yes” to great opportunities.
Discipline flows out of our calling, and our calling sets our priorities.
Here are my priorities:
First, I’m called to receive and live in the love of the Father, Son, and Spirit.
Second, I’m called to love and fight for the heart of my wife.
Third, I’m called to love and fight for the heart of my children, and equip them to be world-transformers.
Fourth, I’m called to lead Transformation Church.
Fifth, I’m called to be an author.
As my life changes and God graciously gives me more responsibility and influence, I must say “No” to some really good things, so I can say “Yes” to really great opportunities that align with my calling and gifting.
Therefore, I have to say “No” to good things that will keep me from saying “Yes” to investing in my wife and children.
I have to say “No” to good things that keep me from saying “Yes” to championing the vision of Transformation Church (TC) and preparing and preaching sermons.
I have to say “No” to good things that keep me from shepherding the staff of TC. The more leaders I can equip to lead, the more I bless them and I, then have multiple leaders to lead and equip TC.
When you and I begin to say “No” to good opportunities, we will be misunderstood. I’d rather be misunderstood than miss my calling.
