Prowess (n.) Skill or expertise in a particular activity or field.
Do you ever feel stuck in routine? Sometimes it seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day. It can be exhausting to fit everything into a span of twenty-four hours when we’re either at work for the majority of the day, keeping up with family, or studying between classes. God has placed exceptional ability, strength, and valor within you, waiting to be realized regardless of the race against time.
We can pursue excellence throughout our daily routines when we learn to steward our time well. So what ability, skill, or strength is waiting for you to make it exceptional? When we awaken to our prowess, we can make each word, action, and choice count in the story God is writing through our lives.
Life isn’t going to slow down. Instead of wishing for more time, let’s focus on developing ourselves by committing to our everyday tasks with excellence and spending free time wisely. Rather than scrolling through social media, we can pick up a book that expands our minds. We can ask a mentor to have coffee between meetings. When we’re conscious of how we spend our time, our days will be put to better use.
Psalm 7:1 portrays how we should bravely pursue prowess with urgency, speed, and focused pursuit:
GOD! God! I am running to you for dear life; the chase is wild. (MSG)
When we go on a “wild God chase,” we embrace and rise in our fierce strengths, grace, and skills. Will you urgently pursue and focus on the strengthening of your unique prowess? The earth is waiting to see what happens when God’s beauty and love not only captures but mobilizes our lives.
