"Judgment will again be founded on justice, and those with virtuous hearts will pursue it." Psalm 94:15 NLT
Virtuous hearts pursue justice. This means that when our hearts are right, injustice becomes abhorrent to us. This principle is not limited to the judicial system; it should span every walk of life. Wherever there is wrong, we seek what is right.
The scriptures predict there will be a brutish time when people who have lost their way will forget what it is to be human (see Romans 1:26). To be human is to have within us a conscience and a measure of our Maker’s heart. Knowing how strongly He feels about wrongdoing, we should respond to injustice with a fierce and loving reaction.
God is inviting us to be part of a hunt. As we seek and pursue Him, we will find the wisdom we need to be carriers of justice in our world. To realize the rescue of those who are lost or at risk, we will need heaven-breathed strategies and answers.
In the pursuit of righteousness and restoration, remember, no one is an island! We are in this together. Paul tells us:
"Stand united, singular in vision, contending for people’s trust in the Message, the good news, not flinching or dodging in the slightest before the opposition. Your courage and unity will show them what they’re up against: defeat for them, victory for you—and both because of God." Philippians 1:27–28 The Message
How do these words affect your heart? Do they move you?
Do they inspire you to action?
Now, where and how can you act? Is there a specific injustice you want to address? Perhaps you have a passion to combat the horrors of human trafficking. Maybe there is a need in your community you can seek to meet. Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal the sphere of influence He has called you to. You can bring change, light, and hope!
May none of us believe our role is inconsequential, and let none of us imagine we should conquer the world alone.
Together, we can see justice established.
