Open Letter to Christ-followers

Dear follower of Jesus,

We live in a broken world filled with broken people.

Jesus has thoughtfully, strategically, and lovingly placed you in a specific context; like your school, your job, your favorite coffee shop, and the very neighborhood in which you live.

Why has He done such a wonderful thing?

So you can be His sacred glue that mends broken people back together.

Jesus makes His appeal through you.

If we are truly growing in our faith (discipleship), we will be transformed into Jesus’ image. And His passions will become our passions.  And what was Jesus passionate about?

Jesus was passionate about His Father, His Kingdom, and people who were lost and not yet in His Kingdom.

I fear that many of us Christ-followers have become “Separate Ones.” Perhaps you are more familiar with the term Pharisee instead of “Separate Ones.”

The Separate Ones were the religious elite, the rule-keepers of Jesus’ day. They did not hang out with the “kind” of people that Jesus hung out with because that “kind” would make them unclean.

Jesus was accused by the Separate Ones of being a drunkard and a sinner because of the company He kept.

Jesus hung out with sinners and displayed His Father’s love to them.

Do you?  If not, why not?

Marinate on that,

Pastor Derwin
