I struggle with desperately attempting to appear beautiful to the guys around me. I used to not understand that Psalm 45:11 included me:
"The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your Lord."
All the time I was looking for love and acceptance, I actually had it! My Creator King opened His arms wide to me time after time.
"How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you" (Psalm 139:17–18).
"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing" (Zephaniah 3:17).
After seeking acceptance from guys and never finding what I needed, I finally turned and ran into my heavenly Daddy's arms. Everything changed.
Well, almost everything. I still want to look beautiful, don't get me wrong. And I still try to wear stylish clothes. But my motivation—my obsession—has dramatically changed. Rather than distracting guys from God by trying to draw their attention to me, I now long to attract them to God through the way I dress, move, talk, and live.
