“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV)
When God calls you to walk in faith, the so-called need to plan things for yourself is never justified. You need not feel responsible for something you do not have the authority to change. The only One who has that authority is God.
We come under a yoke of bondage any time we carry what God never intended for us to bear. You are not meant to worry or fear, so do not burden yourself with the question, “What if?” Any of a million scenarios could happen when you wake up tomorrow, but it is not your job to carry that weight.
Why ask what if? The Holy Spirit will never ask you to figure out what is about to happen. He knows what He has planned. If God isn’t worried, why should you be?
The fear that something bad is going to happen can leave us clinging to our own ideas and plans. But God never meant for us to do things on our own. He is the Author and the Finisher; we are part of His story.
While we might think we know the best way for something to occur in our lives, God’s way is still better. When we can’t accept that, we are refusing to give God control, and we will miss out on His best for us.
You can never have it all planned out. But the good news is God already does! What have you been worried about? Will you choose to let go and let God take control?
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of His heart through all generations. (Psalm 33:11 NIV)
