Learning

As I have spent the past few days in the quietness of God’s Creation, the African bush, I have had time to reflect on the deeper things of life. And once again, I have been reminded that any learning, any move of God, must come from above. It cannot be learned in a University or teaching establishment, and it only comes from time spent sitting at the feet of Jesus Christ.

That takes time and being in a solitary place. We will not hear that still small voice in the midst of this frantic and busy world in which we live.

I can just hear you saying to yourself, “Oh, that’s all right for him; he has all the time in the world to spend sitting at the Master’s feet.” Sounds a bit like Martha, eh? Remember what Jesus said ,”…But Mary, Martha has chosen a better way”.

This life is all about choices. If you really want to, you can make time to spend with the greatest Teacher of all time.

In closing, I want share with you a paragraph I have just read in a book written by a monk who lived 500 years ago, whose name is Thomas a Kempis.

He said :

"There is a great difference between the wisdom of an illuminated and devout man, and the knowledge of a learned and studious man. Far nobler is that learning which flows from above, from the divine outpouring, than that which is painfully acquired by the wit of man."

In other words, spend time with God, and He will teach you about the important things of life!

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Mark 8:36
