Lori and I had the opportunity to visit a new Transitional House that God Behind Bars had launched to help those transitioning from prison back into society. My heart was full when I met a woman who had just entered the house. She had been in prison for the past 24 years and was dropped off at the bus station with $25 in her pocket. My mind cannot comprehend how she felt. Think about how much changes in two decades. How does the world look after such a long time away? It’s almost like she needs to learn how to live again.
Isn’t that like when we receive Christ for the first time? Our old life is gone and our new life has begun, and we learn how to see ourselves and our world in new ways. I’m so thankful we partnered with a ministry like God Behind Bars that shows people how to live again—how to live a life with Jesus both inside and outside of prison!
