Leader, Your Influence Is Greater Than You Know

Leader, your leadership will damage people if you’re walking around with a heart damaged by unforgiveness.

You WILL lead out of your woundedness or healthiness. As leaders, we tend to hide our wounds behind titles and positions. Jesus wants us to “hide” in Him. For by hiding in Him, His grace performs surgery on our damaged hearts.

Here are 3 ways to “hide in Jesus”:

  • I remember to be honest with Jesus when someone hurts me. And as a pastor, getting hurt by people is a hazard of the calling. When I’m honest with Him, I can give Him my hurt and He absorbs it into His wounds so I can find healing in Him.
  • I remember the great lengths of love that Jesus traveled to forever forgive and friend me, when I didn’t even love myself. I think of how ugly some of things I did and do are, yet His precious blood rewrites my history and says, “Derwin is not guilty!” (Romans 8:1), “Derwin is perfect in Me” (Hebrews 10:14; Hebrews 9:14), “Derwin is My very own righteousness” (Romans 5:19), and “Derwin is forever loved by his Papa in heaven” (1 John 3:1).
  • I remember that Jesus forgave me so that I can become a forgiver. When we choose not to forgive, we hold on to bitterness. Bitterness not only cuts our hands, it cuts our hearts.

Leader, your influence is greater than you know. Lead out of a healthy, grace-flooded heart.
