Who are you following? Are you looking for someone to lead the way? Pride's illusion is that we must be able to handle life in our own wisdom and strength, leading the way for others to follow. Humility's voice whispers that Jesus offers to lead us in the way of servanthood, if we will move out of the way and humbly follow in His footsteps.
Are you in need of a leader? Will you humble yourself and let Him lead the way?
Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me (Mark 8:34).
Prayer: Jesus, this in the crux of the matter. Am I clinging to my role as leader or am I choosing to follow You as the leader of my life? I renounce my pride, and humbly place myself under Your leadership. In Your name, I ask that others see only You through my life. Amen.
