Interferer

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth… he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go (Hebrews 11:8 Amplified).

God is Alpha and Omega; the source, sustainer, and glorious end of all that exists “Everything comes from Him; Everything happens through Him; Everything ends up in Him” (Romans 11:36 Message).

Our un-created Ancient of Days always makes the first move. He’s an omnipresent wooer that takes the initiative in each relationship. It’s by this invasive holy love that He awakens hearts to hear His voice (Hosea 11:4).

God intentionally interfered with Abrams’ life when He summoned him to leave his family and be made into a great nation with abundant blessings (Genesis 12:1-2). From the book of beginnings, we see God patiently interacting with man, greatly desiring fellowship with His chosen.

Joni Eareckson Tada’s book “The Glorious Intruder,” tells how God’s presence in chaos may be a nudge toward His greater purpose. Joni believes Christ is intimately involved in the smallest details of our existence. In 1967 Joni became quadriplegic after a diving accident. Instead of ending her life, she decided to live for God’s glory and continues being an encouraging lighthouse all over the globe.

Peter Kreeft, scholar on C. S. Lewis stated, “When Lewis [author of Narnia Chronicles] first converted, he felt God was a ‘transcendental interferer,’ barging into his life saying, “You’re not God, I am God.”

Jesus constantly seeks and speaks. He may beckon through ecstatic joyful events or bring silence that we might hear more clearly. Even in our sufferings, He gently whispers words of comfort and works all things for good (Romans 8:28).

Oh Heavenly Pursuer, grant courage as we wholeheartedly follow You, storming the gates of hell along the Way. Amen.
