Good and Plenty

THEN JESUS CALLED HIS DISCIPLES AND TOLD THEM, "I FEEL SORRY FOR THESE PEOPLE. THEY HAVE BEEN HERE WITH ME FOR THREE DAYS, AND THEY HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO EAT. I DON’T WANT TO SEND THEM AWAY HUNGRY, OR THEY WILL FAINT ALONG THE WAY." — MATTHEW 15:32

There they were. Four thousand men—not including the women and children. They'd been hanging with Jesus, watching the miracles of healing the mute, the crippled, the lame, and the blind.

Now the crowd was hungry. But where, the disciples asked, would they get enough food to feed all these people—especially since they were in the wilderness (no takeout available)? Jesus never answered that question. Instead He asked the disciples what they had on hand. The response: "Seven loaves of bread and a few small fish." Amazingly enough, after Jesus thanked God for that food, broke it into pieces, and gave it to the disciples to distribute, there was enough food for all of those people—plus leftovers!

The point of the story? Jesus will never let any of His people go away hungry. He will always find a way to give His daughters what they need—and more! This limitless God can do anything, anywhere, with anything! He's the Lord of not only good—but plenty!

LET'S PRAY:

Sometimes, Lord, I cannot see or understand how You are going to provide for me. But then, miracle of miracles, You find a way of making the most of what I have—and more! Thank You for offering me so many good and plentiful things. Help me to see things with the eyes of Your abundance. Amen.
