God's Special Gift

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, 'Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: The LORD bless you, and keep you; The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance on you, And give you peace.' So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them"—Number 6:24-27.

Did you know God has a special gift for each of us each day?  It is the gift of His blessing and favor on our lives.  God is a good God who loves to bless His children. He commanded Moses to tell Aaron to speak God’s name (YHWH) over the people so that they could receive His blessing on their lives.

So here’s the big question: Have YOU received God’s blessing of His smile, favor, peace and power today?  That is God’s special gift to you and me. He commanded Moses and Aaron to do it because He was and is so serious about it. He wants to bless us!

How can you receive His blessing today?

1.  Get yourself on blessing ground. If you are living in open rebellion and obvious disobedience to God, you will not be able to receive His blessing. You see, if I want to walk in the snow, I can’t go to the desert; I must go to the mountains. I must get myself on snowy ground. And if I want to walk in His blessings, I must get my life right with Him through repentance and confession of sin. Remember, God always responds to genuine repentance and confession. “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). No matter what you may have done, you can leave the desert of despair for the mountains of His majesty as you get right with Him through the shed blood of Jesus.

2.  Believe the blessing is for you. Do you know why so many of us don’t open the gift of His blessing? We don’t really believe it is for us. We believe God has a blessing for others but not for us. The Hebrew word for that kind of erroneous thinking is BALONEY.

The blessing is yours to receive today! Accept it. Claim it. Unwrap it, and put it to use in your life. He wants His favor to be upon you and the light of His smile to shine through you. He wants to bless you so you in turn can be a blessing and share His love with others.

Don’t go another moment with the gift of His blessing unopened, collecting dust in the corner. It is God’s desire for you. So bless His heart by receiving His gift with gratitude, awe and joy. God really does love you, and He wants you to live and bask in that awesome love.
