In Numbers, chapter 10, God told Moses to have the Israelites make two silver trumpets to gather the community together. When both were sounded, the Israelites would gather at the Tent of Meeting to get very specific instructions from God. He would tell them when to go on their trek toward the promised land.
God calls us to gather, but not to stay gathered. We gather in order to prepare to go. When God calls us to go, we better be prepared.
Sometimes we want to gather when we should go. Maybe it's because we just want to be comfortable right where we are. Maybe we're not certain about the direction we should go. Maybe we don’t want to take a risk – what if it doesn’t work?
Sometimes we want to go when we should gather. Is God waiting on you, or preparing you? Where do you need to grow? What directions do you need? What faith steps do you need to take in order to march out and go? You must understand where you are so you will know where you need to go.
Is it time for you to go ... or gather?
