From Burden to Opportunity

He is always wrestling in prayer for you. (Colossians 4:12 NIV)

It isn’t unusual to sense a sudden concern for someone or to feel the weight of a difficult situation. But what do we do with those thoughts? Most people turn them into worry and stress. They become a constant source of anxiety—and a source of futility and frustration.

We have a much better option. In the Spirit, these things are often meant as invitations to pray—not just a quick request, though that’s a good start, but wrestling in another realm in order to make an impact in this one.

Prayer accomplishes things because it appeals to a God who is more than willing to respond to faith. Sometimes we wrestle merely to get to that place of faith, but it’s a worthwhile battle. When we do, things happen.

Refuse to see your concerns as burdens to bear. See them instead as opportunities to pray—to reach into the invisible realm and bring the Spirit’s power into the visible one. Unhindered by time and space, you are in a privileged position. Use it to affect the lives of others whenever the Spirit prompts you.
