PRAISE BE TO THE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF COMPASSION AND THE GOD OF ALL COMFORT, WHO COMFORTS US IN ALL OUR TROUBLES, SO THAT WE CAN COMFORT THOSE IN ANY TROUBLE WITH THE COMFORT WE OURSELVES RECEIVE FROM GOD. FOR JUST AS WE SHARE ABUNDANTLY IN THE SUFFERINGS OF CHRIST, SO ALSO OUR COMFORT ABOUNDS THROUGH CHRIST. - 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-5
Young children find comfort in a pacifier or a stuffed animal. Perhaps the most common comfort to them is a special blanket. As we grow older, comfort is harder to find. Certainly, a warm blanket or a hot bubble will bring temporary comfort when we are cold. A talk with a friend may soothe your worried heart a bit. But real comfort is found in a relationship with the Lord. No matter what trial or trouble you are facing today, He is there to comfort you.
You can rest in Jesus. You can come to Him and lay down your concerns. You can talk with Him, or even just speak His name.
There is power and peace to be found in the name of your Savior.
One extra benefit to finding comfort in the Lord is that you are then better equipped to comfort others. You can offer a word of compassion to another who is experiencing a similar hurt to that which you have known. You are ready to comfort because you have been comforted.
LET'S PRAY:
Father, please comfort me in that area of my life that troubles me. Equip me to comfort those around me. Amen.
