Find What God Loves and Love It

This past weekend was EPIC in the history of Transformation Church!

Like many of the precious people who filled the 5 Transformation Church services over two campuses, I was sitting in a puddle of tears as my good friend Steve “The Naked Preacher” Grant preached his heart out.

The Gospel of Jesus blazed out his heart, to ours!

I can still hear his words rattle around in my soul:

“In 1992, when I got drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, I had one goal, win as many of my teammates to Jesus as possible!”

I’m so thankful that was the goal Jesus placed in his heart because I came to faith as a result.

In the locker of the Indianapolis Colts from 1993-1997, the seeds that would give birth to Transformation Church were planted in my heart.  The seeds have blossomed into something beautiful and life-giving.

Transformation Church (TC)  was recognized by Outreach Magazine as “One of the Fastest Growing churches in America” and Church Relevance recognized TC as one the “U.S. Churches To Watch.”

I share the above not to boast, BUT to praise Jesus for what He’s doing at TC, which is the by-product of a man who saw himself as an everyday missionary in the locker room of the Indianapolis Colts.

Here are a few observations:

  1. As a result of Steve loving what God loves (people), he saw the Indianapolis Colts locker room as his mission field.
  2. He realized his “job as a NFL player” was God’s way of strategically placing Him in position to be the presence of Jesus.
  3. He simply connected with guys where they were; he was not preachy. He was a consistent source of good.

My heart racing races with holy excitement to think about what would happen if you saw your job, school, gym, neighborhood, and all of life as your mission field?

In the words of the Naked Preacher, “Find out what God loves and love it.  God loves people.  So love people to Christ.”
