The Bible dictionary describes the word “presumptuous” as failing to observe the limits of what is permitted or appropriate. In other words, despising God’s Holy Word. (Numbers 15:30-31, NKJV: ‘But the person who does anything presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the LORD, and he shall be cut off from among his people. Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him.’)
You cannot defy the Word of God. In this age in which we are living, where anything seems to go and liberality abounds, we need to be very definite about what we stand for. We need to call sin by its name. Why? Because there are so many young people who are confused, and they do not know what is right or what is wrong.
The old saying, “In order for sin to abound, all that good men have to do is nothing,” is so appropriate. Young people are looking for answers. The answer is in the Bible, and so we cannot compromise or be presumptuous with God’s Word. The moment we do that, we lose the power, the anointing, and the blessing on our lives, because God will not have anything to do with a double-minded person (James 1:8).
So let us get back to basics, especially where it concerns our young people. Let us tell them (always in love) the truth because Jesus Christ is the Truth (John 17:17).
