If God is really just, then what He does for one He must be willing to do for all, right? That sure makes sense to me, especially since the Bible says that He is not a respecter of persons. Yet, in the midst of tragedies like hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes we hear conflicting stories.
One believer will speak about a supernatural intervention that saved his life. Another will tell the story of a family member who was a strong Christian and did not survive. Was God playing favorites? Does He love one person more than another?
I believe that the most important answer to those questions is rooted in intercession. When we pray, we open the door for God to be impartially partial. We use the authority that He delegated to us through covenant, to allow Him to intervene on this earth.
Remember, you are an ambassador of the Lord on this earth. He needs your voice to speak His word and your cooperation to carry out His will. It may be difficult to comprehend or even accept, but God really does need you, and prayer really does change things!
When you sense the leading of the Holy Spirit to pray for someone, whether you know them or not, it’s time to pray. The Lord may very well be looking for an intercessor (you) to release His power on behalf of a person in danger.
Intercession, directed by the Holy Spirit, may not be the complete answer to the “why” questions. But God is certainly not playing favorites, and without a doubt, prayer opens the door for His power to be manifest.
