Is it possible for the God of this universe to lack anything? The answer to that question may surprise you. Yes, God lacks one thing. But before I share that, let’s cover what He has and does not lack.
God has all knowledge, of the past, present, and future. He has foreknowledge of all the choices that every person will make. And He is painfully aware of the evil and injustice on the earth. God has all wisdom. He is the supreme strategist and knows how to deal with the evil and injustice that we face. God has all power. He is like the elephant in the room who at any time can say it’s finished, raise His foot and end the battle between the ants. God has total and complete love. He, in fact, is love. That is His character and nature.
“So, if God has all these things, then why does evil and injustice still exist on the earth?” Good question.
The answer is simple but sometimes hard for us to understand. It’s because of the one thing that He no longer has. God lacks authority on this earth. He lacks that authority because He delegated it and gave it away; He gave it to you and me, and He never goes back on His Word.
In Genesis 1:27-28 we read, “God blessed them and said, Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion." Speaking of man, Psalms 8:3-8 says, "You have made him to have dominion over the woks of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet." Psalms 115:16 says, "But the earth He has given to the children of the earth.”
God gave human beings the authority to dominate and subdue this earth. He desired for it to be used in concert with Him. He would provide a recipe of His knowledge, His power, His wisdom and His love and partner with us in the use of our delegated authority to fulfill His plan using those ingredients. God’s knowledge and power coupled with our delegated authority produces miracles on the earth.
Obviously, human kind as a whole has failed in their responsibilities. But that does not mean that we, as believers, cannot exercise our authority and fulfill His plan within our personal world of family, friends, business, church and more.
