Do it with Love

What is Christianity all about?

What is the mark of a genuine follower of Christ?

What is the test by which we know that a person really knows the Lord, walks with Him and pleases Him?

Is there a defining characteristic?

What is the key?

Christ Himself gave us the answer. In John 13:24 He says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Then He said, "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another" (John 13:25).

Now, think deeply about those statements. It was not by the performing of miracles or by the raising of the dead that true followers were distinguished. It was not correct doctrine and systematic Scripture memorization that characterized them as believers. It was not that they could articulate and defend the faith. It was not hard work and sacrifice or even martyrdom.

The mark, the sign, was and is simply love for each other.

And this love will be evident in the way you say things, your countenance, your response to adverse circumstances, your life in all respects.

There has got to be something about us that says, “We love others.”

That is the mark.
