When we go to work, we expect our employer to provide everything that we need to do our job. For some of us, this means access to office space, a computer, access to a telephone, and internet access. For others, it might mean access to an automobile or a spatula so you can flip burgers. It doesn’t matter—if someone expects us to perform a task, we are given the tools to perform that task.
When it comes to Christianity, sometimes we feel like we cannot accomplish what God wants us to do. We feel inadequate. The thing that we need to know is that God does provide everything that we need in order to accomplish what He wants us to do. Let’s look and see God’s track record as written in the Bible.
God provides spontaneous knowledge to complete a task. “…and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” (Exodus 31:3-5, NIV)
God provides resources. There was this time in history when the children of Israel had just come back from exile and returned to a land that was in disrepair. The walls were broken down and the gates of the city had been burned with fire. Nehemiah was cupbearer to the King and was able to ask the King to provide all the resources necessary to rebuild the city! (Nehemiah 2:1-9)
God provides finances. " But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours." (Matthew 17:27, NIV)
God provides the opportunity for us to share His word with others. The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading? Philip asked. “How can I,” he said,” unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. (Acts 8:29-31 )
There are hundreds of more instances of this in the Bible. I am not saying that God will move this dramatically in your life, but God does have a track record of providing what you need to accomplish the mission that He has for you. Read Isaiah 6:1-8 and see how God called Isaiah and prepared him for the task that he set before him. Over the next few days, spend some time asking God to show you your destiny and ask Him to see what He has provided you to accomplish your task.
