Clarity

So many people, myself included, want clarity.  When we are in the middle of a difficult circumstance or a big decision, we want to see how this is good for us: God, just show me how this turns out and I'll be o.k.  God, just make it clear that the end of this is good. We are focused on the outcome.

Or, we are focused on not making a mistake.  We don't want to take a wrong step or mess up.  Still, we're focused on something other than God.

More often, God gives confirmation instead of clarity.  God gives confirmation that we are moving in the right direction, not that we will get the result we want. He gives confirmation that we're doing what He wants, not getting what we want.

Clarity deals with the outcome.  Confirmation deals with God.  We get confirmation that we are doing what God wants, going in God's direction.

We think that clarity will bring confidence.  God knows better.  Even if we got clarity, we'd still want more.  However when we act with confidence, we get confirmation.   Usually we don't get confirmation until after we've exhibited confidence and taken the step.

For examples of this, see Abraham, Moses, and Jonathan, to name a few.

Paul exhibited his confidence in God by noting that Jesus is faithful to complete what He started.  That type of confidence will end in confirmation
