“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19 ESV).
Have you ever wanted a new life? Or a new beginning?
The only new things springing up in my life lately appear at the end of my chin.
So what’s a girl to do?
Now don’t get me wrong, I love my life, my family, my ‘tent-making’ job, the privilege I have to minister . . . but I’m restless. Some days I feel stuck in a rut and question whether or not I am in God’s will. Today especially. I even said out loud, "God, am I in your will or not?”
This made me giggle because it almost sounded like I was asking if I was in his ‘Last Will and Testament.’ Not His will, will. This silly will faux pas got me on a rabbit trail. I mean, isn’t His will that I am in His will—both of them? Typically children of a deceased person are named as beneficiaries and inherit the assets and blessings from their parents.
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him” (Romans 8:16-17 ESV).
So, I love Jesus. I am a Jesus lover... I’ve asked Him into my life, and I daily strive to give him Lordship. Because of this truth, I am in a position as a joint heir with Christ so I know that I am in the Father’s will. As a daughter of the King, I am going to trust that good, new things are going to spring forth in my life, in His time and for His purpose.
As we wait with expectation for new, exciting things to come, we need to be thankful for the present and be diligent with what He’s given us to do today. As for me, I’m going to start with taking care of a few new things springing up on my chin.
