Philippians 4: 6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
This is one of the most popular verses in the Bible … but sadly, its goal is rarely achieved by most Christians. Our American cup seems to overflow with stress, pressure, trouble, worries, and anxiety … yet here stands Philippians 4:6-7, which seems to call us to an impossibly high standard. What’s up with that? The key to this verse is a thorough understanding of God’s providence, goodness, and plan.
God’s providence, because it reminds us that He really IS in control and nothing happens unless He wills it to or allows it to.
God’s goodness, because it assures you that He really IS working all things together for good (Romans 8:28) for His Children.
God’s plan, because you already know how it turns out! For those who call Jesus their Savior, the endgame is so sweet that out little pea-sized brains can’t even begin to imagine how wonderful it will be, but Scripture does give us a few incredible clues…
He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever. Revelation 21:4
When you take all of those incredible truths into account, you can begin to understand how God is able to command us to “not to be anxious about anything … ”
