A “Will Do” God

Do you remember when you were a child and your earthly father promised to do something or take you somewhere, but for some reason he couldn’t do it or he didn’t do it?

You would say, “But you promised!”

Well, we have a heavenly Father who promised and who WILL DO.

We can go to Him and say, “You promised that those who fear the commandment of the Lord will be rewarded. You promised that he who walks with wise men will be wise. You promised that a good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous. You promised that the upright will flourish. You promised that he has mercy on the poor will be happy. You said that you are far from the wicked but you hear the prayer of the righteous. You promised that the fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom and before honor is humility.

You promised that the soul of a diligent man makes him rich. You promised that by pride strife comes, but with the well advised there is wisdom. You promised deep sound sleep. You promised health. You promised wealth. You promised joy unspeakable.

You promised wisdom. You promised knowledge. You promised understanding. You promised safety. You promised peace. You promised blessings. You promised strength. You promised not to withhold any good thing. You promised me honor through humility. You promised power through the Holy Spirit. You promised love. You promised a sound mind. You promised life more abundantly.

You promised authority over the wiles of the enemy. You said I am triumphant because of the shed blood of Jesus. You promised that he who heeds the word wisely will find good and whoever trusts in the Lord would be happy. You said that sweetness of the lips increases learning. You said that pleasant words are like honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. You said the silver haired head is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness. You promised grace and mercy. You promised that a haughty spirit goes before a fall so in place of that you promised a humble spirit. You promised that if I heed the word wisely I will find good. You promised that a soft answer turns away wrath. You promised that he who receives correction is prudent. You promised that the lips of the wise will disperse knowledge.

You promised that our prayers will be answered if we forgive. You said that you love him who follows righteousness. You promised a merry heart will give a cheerful countenance. You promised that a merry heart has a continual feast. You promised that a dinner of herbs where love is, is better than a fatted calf with hatred. You promised that without counsel, plans go awry but in the multitude of counsel they are established. You promised the lips of the wise will disperse knowledge. You promised that every word of God is pure and that you are a shield to those who put their trust in You.

You said that a faithful man will abound with blessings. You said that iron sharpens iron so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. You promised that if we hunger and thirst for righteousness we will be filled. You promised to send the Holy Spirit to be our helper, our teacher, and someone to always be there for us.

You promised that if I follow your instructions I would live to be wise and develop good judgment. You said to not turn away from your words. You said not to turn my back on wisdom. You told me to never give up.

You promised that you would freely pardon when I confess my sin. You promised that you are on my side. You promised to create in us pure hearts and renew steadfast spirits in us. You promised to give us your name (Jesus) to have authority over all the wiles of the enemy.

You promised a second chance if we repent. In John 3:16 You said that you loved the world so much that you gave your only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I thank you Lord.

Your promises are true.

Your word is true.

Your promises are yea and amen.
